Smoothies have got to be the easiest whip me up fix for every season. With the mother load of choices all over the internet highway, there is definitely no shortage of options. But, how do you know which to try and which to ditch? Couple of key tips to remember…..
- 5 Ingredients or less (in most cases)
- Use a creamy milk base (like plant milk or coconut milk) with a sweet and a sour
- You can always bet that your smoothie will be begged for when it’s consistency is more like ice cream, Freeze your fruits before you blend.
- Prepare all your smoothie bags in advance labeled with the name. Simplifies your day and helps to keep you on track.
Banana Spinach Sunday Smoothie
1 cup fresh spinach
2 frozen banana, sliced
1 Tablespoon almond butter
2 tsp. cocoa powder or (optional) 1/3 cup cocoa nibs
1 cup ice
1 cup vanilla almond milk
Place all the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Add more almond milk to thin, if necessary.
The Black Beauty
1 cup blackberries
1 cup kale
1 ½ teaspoons fresh ginger
1 Tablespoon agave nectar or optional Manuka Honey
1 Tablespoon raw oatmeal
1 frozen banana, sliced
1 cup ice
1 cup almond milk
1 Tablespoon almond butter
Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Adjust the consistency with additional almond milk or water.
The Bahia Blush
1 cup raspberries
1 cup frozen mango
1 frozen banana
1 ½ tsp. ginger
1 Tablespoon raw oatmeal
½ cup orange juice
½ cup ice
1 cup coconut milk
Pinch of fresh nutmeg
Place all……. You get it.
